Absence of Candour

written by : bexi@junxion.za.net

This is the world that we live in today,
False promises, hatred, decline and decay;
So who says democracy's the way to go?
Look at the world - what a poor show!
I've spelt out the word - do you agree?
Read it, digest it, it's wrong - you'll see!

Drugs, destruction, delinquency, divorce;
Ecstasy, extortion, enslavement enforced;
Marijuana, murder and moral decay
Opium and occult, is this the way?
Cocaine, corruption, cold and cruel
Ritalin, rape and majority rule;
Alcohol, atheism, abortion and abuse,
Cannabis, conceit, conspire and confuse
Yelling and yapping and constant yearning
This word "democracy"- what are we learning?

Yes! The words could be changed to make it look good,
But - who are we fooling? - Is this understood?
If democracy is so urgent and great,
Why is there so much confusion and hate?
Man-made laws will never work out;
Try as we may, we can scream and shout!
Look within - then - to the sky above,
There's our true freedom - but - will we budge?
