SUMMER DREAMER ( 196 Views)

written by : ROMI-CLAIRE

Breathing warm, viscous air I watch you sleep,
The hill of your little hip a miniature
Of my own.
The old fan stuttering its useless breeze
Across the bed. The cool cotton sheets
Offer no comfort in the heat.

Your crown, a sodden garland adorns you,
As the phantoms of your dreams tussle
Under your eyelids
Trying to escape
To a cooler place, and play
With the shadows on your face....

A face flushed with false fever.
On your sticky lip, beads sit;
Indolent dew on a bloom.
The orchid in the hothouse secretly grows
In the night. And I wont know
Till light, what seeds the sun has sowed
In your dreams.
